Rationale: I chose this topic because of my passion for cars. I enjoy driving, watching and researching about cars so I chose this topic to do my assignment on. This topic was a very broad topic and it allowed me to find lots of information I already knew and grow on it. I used a lot of previous knowledge to create this paper and it was really something I was passionate about. This topic has always been a question of mine and I'm sure it has been a question many other people have wondered. I'm sure even people who aren't car people have wondered the same question. Cars have been made for a variety of different reasons but there have always been the cars who stand out in performance and they always seem to be top dollar. Digging deeper into this question really gave me an understanding on why someone would pay such top dollar for an automobile besides for its looks and features. The work and designing they put into the cars really reflects their value and can back up such a large cost. This topic can also be a very interesting topic for people who aren't as into cars but just want to learn a little more about them. My target audience is people who want to understand the mechanics behind cars and understand how they go so fast but still pass emissions like other cars, but anyone could really read this paper. If someone is willing to learn a thing or two about high performance vehicles they definitely will find this paper very interesting. The research I found was extremely helpful to this paper and it definitely opened up my mind to such high end cars. The main purpose of this paper is to get people to understand how much engineering and time it takes to build a high performance automobile and to get a better understanding why these cars stand out over others. The amount of work and engineering that goes into them really lives up to the price they cost. I choose this topic because it is something that I am passionate about and it was something that I really enjoyed reading about. This topic has an audience of people who are into cars or who just want to learn more about them but it can also appeal to anyone who has wondered this question.
Reflection: This assignment had to appeal to a specific audience and it had to be written so that it appeals to some group of people. When I first started the paper I knew I wanted it to be directed towards a car related audience. Every car related audience has wondered this question so I thought it fit a general audience since the question was very general. The question could be looked at by many different groups of people. People who are also not into cars could also be interested in this topic which gives it another benefit. I talked on 4 major points in this topic, them being exhaust systems, weight reduction, turbochargers and superchargers and aerodynamics. All of these four topics can be either previous knowledge to someone or complete unknown information, but they all tie together to help answer the overall question. For the two pieces of documentation I choose to make I choose a short video clip and a podcast. The infographic was required. For the infographic it really helped create a small space to display a general overview of the topic and gave some small information like a description of each piece of information on the four points. The short video was kind of a visual representation of the four points as I had a video of a car driving at 300 mph which you get to visualize the speed, you could hear the exhaust, see the weight reduction carbon panels and you could see a turbocharger in action. Having a visual representation not only helps connect the information but it also can be good to see the four aspects in action. The last piece I chose was a podcast. The podcast really allowed me to spill my mind on the four topics and I was able to freely explain things in a more general language vs in writing. It allowed me to put things into a perspective that people who aren't familiar with the subject would be able to understand. The podcast was probably the most helpful piece to back up the writing because it allowed me to dig deeper than what I could do on writing. When all the infographic, video and podcast were done they really helped back up the writing portion and it helped set up an audience, as they all really helped me explain the writing and even put things into a visual point of view.
